AML-Connect is a shared space for Pennsylvania’s abandoned mine land and acid mine drainage community. These guidelines keep it useful, respectful, and trustworthy for everyone.
**Be practical and specific.**
Questions and contributions that include context — what you’ve already tried, what system you’re working with, what county or watershed — are more useful than general questions. The more specific you are, the more useful the answer.
**Cite your sources.**
When you share a fact, a recommendation, or a method, say where it comes from. ‘In our experience at Bear Creek…’ or ‘Per the PA DEP 2026 guidance…’ helps others evaluate what you’re sharing. Unsourced claims about technical methods are harder to act on.
**Keep it on topic.**
Each forum board has a specific purpose. Post in the board that fits your question or topic. If you’re not sure, use General Q&A and the admin will move it if needed.
**Respect confidentiality.**
Don’t share private data about individuals, organizations, or sites without permission. If you’re sharing monitoring data or project information, make sure you have the right to share it.
**Policy, but no politics.**
AML-Connect is a shared platform for the full PA AML/AMD network — organizations with different perspectives and approaches all use it. Keep discussions technical, practical, and constructive. Advocacy and political content belong elsewhere.
**Files go through the intake process.**
During soft launch, don’t attach files directly to forum posts. Use the Resource submission form or Media submission form, or email the admin. This keeps the library organized and properly catalogued.
