Summary: EPCAMR is the home organization of AML-Connect and one of the core technical leaders of Pennsylvania’s AML/AMD restoration network. Based in Wilkes-Barre, EPCAMR provides technical assistance, GIS mapping, grant writing and management, education and outreach, and project coordination across the anthracite and bituminous coalfields of northeastern and northcentral Pennsylvania.
Role in the PA AML Network #
EPCAMR serves as a backbone organization for AML/AMD restoration work in eastern Pennsylvania — providing the technical and organizational capacity that many smaller watershed groups lack. EPCAMR’s Conservation District Abandoned Mine Reclamation Program (CDARP-East) directly supports mining-impacted watersheds across the region through technical assistance, underground mine mapping, water quality analysis, and project coordination. In 2025, EPCAMR received $260,000 in Section 319 funding through this program to continue that regional support work.
EPCAMR is also the administrator of AML-Connect. The platform was developed by EPCAMR to address a long-standing need in the network: a shared, accessible knowledge commons where the practical knowledge generated by watershed practitioners can be preserved, shared, and built upon across organizational boundaries.
